It takes repeated injuries to get my truck into a state such as this. It started with a 25mph headon with a tree in Flagstaff Arizona. That chipped one of front edges of the chassis off, so that it was secured by only one of the 4x15mm screws up front.

Couple weeks later, I am doing some major 9-cells Hacker powered jumps at a construction site. Seeing that my front end was getting too high in the air, I blipped the brakes a little bit. Then I remembered too late that I am running a Hacker! The brakes, already throttled back to 50% are just insane. The tires lock and it nosedives instantly, catching a small dune.

The front digs in, the backend breaks over a fulcrum point and just keeps going, overtop the frontend. The compression popped open my RX pack (usually safely nestled between the ladder braces.) and the batteries go flying. That was fun trying to find them (not).

I found the truck in two pieces half submerged in loose dirt, being held together by the front servo wire.

Damage List:

  • Totalled Chassis
  • Totalled Front Brace
  • Cracked Rear Rim
  • RX Pack - fixed with superglue

Possible Upgrades:

  • Lexan Chassis?
  • Aluminum Front Brace

The longest part of fixing this was re-dremmelling all of the custom crap I have on my chassis. I needed a special notch for a power switch, I needed to cut a spot for my RX to fit right, and I had to dremel the battery tray to get my GP3300s to fit.

After that, repair was cake.
