Once
again I selected the ever-popular Pro-Line
Ford F-150 Traxxas Rustler Body, which, in my opinion,
is a great looking body that is easy to work with.
The
idea behind this body was that I hated how much road rash
I was getting on my lids. That will make a good body look
bad instantly. I planned to do the top half black, but
it was easier just to shoot the whole thing. I applied
a XXX
Main Flaming Skull Mask, greatly aided by the use
of transfer
tape that was included with the mask! (first I've ever
heard or seen of the stuff.) If you haven't used it, this
will make applying the most intricate masks a breeze.
After
shooting the whole thing with several layers of Outlaw
Black, and allowing sufficient dry time, the mask was
pulled off. Spazstix Chrome
paint was used to fill in the flames and flaming skull on the
hood. There is a surface prep spray that I did use, although
it didn't adhere as well as I had hoped. After the first
real crash, a LOT of chrome came off.
Spazsitx
claims to have reformulated the spray for better adhesion,
and better reflectivity. Here is a flyer about it.
