Clod
Crawling
My son
and I found this this awesome construction site. In Arizona
they fill drainage ditches with these one foot boulders -
Clod Heaven. Having already locked the differentials last
week, we were all set for our first big challenge.
This
Clodzilla IV uses the stock clod motors running in parallel,
powered by the Novak Super Rooster ESC. 6-cells gives them
plenty of power to tackle this hill.
Everything
got pretty hot after the first pack. Outside it was about
95 degrees. After one pack, the motor endbells were nearing
200 degrees, the ESC was about 160, and the battery was around
170.
Additions
9/16/03
- Added Giant-Trac tires, which are MUCH grippier. Huge difference.
Next job - more torque.
9/18/03
- Added Magnetic Mayhem motors. More torque, but I still would
like more. Adjustable motor mounts and 9t pinion gears on
the way.
9/30/03
- Over the past couple weeks, I added the TopLink
mod, which raises the roll center of the truck, and increases
ground clearance. I also purchased some adjustable motor mounts
from ClodMod Racing, so I could get the 9t pinions in there.
HUGE difference in torque. Any speed it had is a memory now.
Also
had my first boo-boo. I hit a rock and it broke one of the
enormous rod ends off.
First
video is done now! Check out "Clodzilla
Rocks"
