Flaming
Blue
This
started out as a rip-off of the popular Tamiya
TerraCrusher body. Boy is this a far cry, lol. I also
needed a Rustler body, since I decided to move away from my
custom mounts and go with stock
Rustler mounts on my my Stampede and my Rustler. I went with
the Pro-Line
Ford F-150 Traxxas Rustler Body, which, in my opinion,
is a great looking body that is easy to work with. Don't forget
to use Rustler mounts with it.
I did
guess well on the blue paint I wanted with Pactra
Flourescent Blue. It looks just like the Terra Crusher
color. As for the flames, well I don't know if I will ever
take the time to properly mask a flame job on one of my bodies.
That looks like a lot of work. I went the fast and ugly route
with these Autographics
Hot Flash Flames. They didn't turn out too bad.
I accidently
ran too much of the blue paint near the back of the body where
it fades to Sprint
White. To fix these horrible looking runs, I used a latex
glove to put some swirls all over the affected area, it did
help some.
Like
I've done in a lot of bodies, I left a large portion (on the
back) clear. I just happen to like this effect. After removing
all the masks, I applied Window
Tint rather heavily this time for a real dark look.
I removed
the strip and applied Indy
Silver. It filled in the stripe as well as backed the
rest of the paint.
I was
really quite ashamed of this body to begin with, but it grew
on me, especially after I started using it, and seeing how
much better looking it was than the other bodies I had in
rotation.
This
body went on to star in FrankenStinger
and the Speed Trials Videos.
