Chronicle of the former record held by Swami at 61.3mph

In June 2003, just playing around trying to break 60mph, I unsuspectingly set a World Speed Record for Traxxas Electric Trucks, using a highly modified Rustler.

The folks at Hacker recommended no more than 9 cells to be used with the Hacker C40 8s, but caution was thrown to the wind. I ran it with 12 cells for brief runs, and clocked the results using the Garmin eTrex GPS (rear shock tower)

These trucks are not designed to go this fast, and trying to break 60mph proved to be quite difficult. Heat is always the enemy, and the record was broken on days topping 106 degrees. I would get the truck and all batteries cooled to 70 degrees in my house, and hurry the rig down to a long desolate road nearby.

Setup for original breaking of 60mph (61.3mph):
Masher 2ks in back, Road Rages up front, Hacker Car Sport Controller, Hacker C40 8s Brushless Motor, Count em (12) GP3300 cells, eTrex GPS, other stuff

Setup for Swami's highest current speed (63.5mph):
Road Rage II tires all around, Hacker Car Sport Controller, Hacker C40 8s BL Motor, 11 CP-2400 cells, eTrex GPS, 25/78 gearing.

The Future:
I decided to go with the Lehner 5300 when I found a good deal on one on Ebay. It is DEFINITELY faster than the Hacker C40 8s, but I haven't tried to take it to the limit. As the current record stands at over 70mph, I don't think theres much chance of me hitting that!

Below, you'll find the video where I first broke 60mph.

The Speed Trials: Part II
This is the BIG SPEED VIDEO. I found a desolate road, and pushed the truck up past 60mph. Numerous false starts, and loss of control were chronicled for your amusement.
